El circo romano de la ciudad de Valentia en el siglo II d.C. fue la prueba del desarrollo que experimentó esta ciudad en época altoimperial, una “urbs notissima” que ostentó el estatus de colonia romana, máximo rango al que podía aspirar una ciudad en este periodo. Este tipo de edificios públicos por sus grandes dimensiones y elevados costes sólo estaban presentes en las ciudades más importantes, variando su tamaño según el nivel de población. Este circo tenía una longitud de 350 x 70 metros y una capacidad de aproximadamente entre 8000 y 10000 espectadores. / The Roman circus of the city of Valentia in the 2nd century AD. It was proof of the development that this city underwent in the High Imperial era, an “urbs notissima” that held the status of a Roman colony, the highest rank to which a city could aspire in this period. This type of public building, due to its large dimensions and high costs, was only present in the most important cities, its size varying according to the level of population. This circus had a length of 350 x 70 meters and a capacity of between 8,000 and 10,000 spectators.
